This certainly doesn’t bode well for Duke.

The last time the University of Alabama football team had to bounce back from two straight defeats, it beat a top 20 opponent, Texas Tech, but only after having more than a month to prepare for the Cotton Bowl.

That was last season. This is now, and this time the Crimson Tide, coming off back-to-back losses at Arkansas and Florida, has to get itself together in time for Saturday’s home game against winless Duke.

The last time Alabama had to play without any sort of open date following back-to-back losses came in 2004, when the Tide whipped Kentucky 45-17 on the road following losses to Arkansas and South Carolina.

Says Shula, “I just know that when you win you’re going to get more confidence. A win can cure a lot of things.”

Talk about preachin’ to the choir.
